From Leatham Hollow station we ran up a dirt road for just three miles before another small aide station (I didn stop) and entered a single track trail that climbed steadily for a few miles and about 2,000 feet of elevation gain through a beautiful canyon with fantastic limestone outcroppings and a babbling brook replete with stunning waterfalls. Leveling off in the high country the trail was quite run able for a couple miles, and then we came on another dirt road before descending to the next aide station. I was starting to get as the heat of the day grew more oppressive.
