COMPRESS
This allows you to compress any number of files and directories and create an archive of tar.gz or zip format. To create compressed archive you must select files and directories, type desired name of new archive in the field next to COMPRESS button, select a method -- tar.gz or zip and hit on COMPRESS button. There is no need to give new file an extension that corresponds to the selected method. Nevertheless the result will be the same if you type newfilename.tar.gz or newfilename.tar or newfilename. The resulting file in all these cases will be newfilename.tar.gz if the selected method is tar.gz If a file with the resulting name (newfilename.tar.gz) already exists it will be fully overwritten. EXTRACTING FILES To extract archived files and directories just click on the archive name. A screen with the archive content and browsing tool will appear. See the picture below:
Using browsing tool you can select destination location where the archived files will be extracted. When the location is selected click on Extract Here button to extract files. Existing files and directories in the destination location will be overwritten if the have the same names as the archived ones. You must have sufficient permissions on the destination location to extract files there. If error occurs during files archiving or extracting, native system error message will be printed on the main screen.
